Although I associate myself with neither political party, I plan to vote for Hillary Clinton. Before I am rashly judged upon my position, I am quick to acknowledge that Clinton has made several inexcusable mistakes. However, in my mind, Donald Trump has proven over and over againthat he is utterly unqualified and incapable of running this country.
Due to present day media, we often know plenty, if not too much, about those running for president of the United States.
As a newly eighteen year old college freshman, I have been anxiously anticipating my opportunity to vote ever since the most recent presidential election.
Because of the Electoral College
The Electoral College was established by our founding fathers because they felt the generalpublic would not be thoroughly educated on the presidential candidates as much as was necessary to make a well informed vote. Today, this is obviously not the case.
Because of the Electoral College, my vote in the upcoming presidential election will not count.
North Dakota has voted Republican in 25 of the 31 presidential elections. It's most recent Democratic vote occurred in 1964 for incumbent President Lyndon B. Johnson.
Unfortunately, being a North Dakota voter means that my vote for Clinton will not matter.
I am not the only one whose vote is ultimately worthless in this presidential election. In order to sustain high voter turnout and maintain a sense of civic responsibility, we Men Canada Goose Manitoba Jacket Navy Outlet Ireland need to eliminate the Electoral College.
Over these past four years, I have become more educated on the issues that affect our nation and on the basic processes of our government system.
